Cups Tarot Meanings

Ace of cups:

  • Upright: a card of success in relationships. new romance, new relationship, marriage proposal, deeper intimacy, creativity, healing and work place positivity, Happy Financial news. A card for a successful soulmate connection.

  • Reversed: Failure of a relationship. Ending or preventing a relationship that was meant  to be. Separation, insecurity in love, vulnerability. Disappointing news. unmotivated or bored. Ego is interfering with path to success.

Two of cups:

This is a soul mate card....

  • Upright: Romantic love, partnership, Harmony in a relationship, commitment,  true love, teamwork. Balanced finances and positive work relationships. This card can represent a deep connection that has existed in previous lifetimes.

  • Reversed: Difficulties in your relationship, disagreement, break up, divorce, out of harmony with  a loved one, contradicting beliefs. Can be a warning to not loose your soulmate.

Three of cups:

  • Upright: This is a card of friendship, team work , support , blessed love. It represents support all around and strong connections.

  • Reversed:  "Three is a crowd"  or someone interfering. Self-centred, conflict within the group, your miracle hit roadblocks, imbalance in friendship groups or a relationship.

Four of  Cups:

  • Upright: Is a card that is a reminder you have support and to not dwell in a negative place...   Change, adventure, opportunity, a reminder to do something positive, help will come from an unexpected place.

  • Reversed:Self-pity, fall, sorrow, self-inflicted isolation

Five of cups:

  • Upright:  The card overall clings to some hope as two cups still stand but overall feels disappointment. It is the card of grief and loss yet with hope and moving on from it is beginning or close.

Dissatisfaction, sadness with a glimmer of hope, moody, psycho-emotional , wanting things you cannot have, loosing control of emotions. Guidance.. let the water wash away your sadness as there is hope.

  • Reversed: feeling without hope or a way out-  Loss, grief, regret, mild depression, sadness. Not moving on from grief and loss. Remember there is always hope... it just needs to be found.

Six of Cups:

  • Upright: Nostalgia,  happy memories, old friends, childhood, family reunion, believe in miracles again. Letting your imagination grow. 

  • Reversed:  Negative or traumatic memories, feeling sadness over ending a relationship, loss in the  joy of miracles.

Seven of cups:

  • Upright: A card of selection and many great options, choose one of the cups and their lessons for yourself, opportunities. Positive fulfilment yet can be commitment issues occasionally or too many choices. Thinking through options or having many positives and 'cups full'.

  • Reversed: Personal values, overwhelmed by choices, hesitancy, Others forcing choices on you. Not taking or seeing options that are there or running out of options. Not seeing the positives and making negative choices.

Eight of cups:

  • Upright:  The card of retreat and moving forward. Moving forwad alone, abandonment, withdrawal, escapism. leaving the past behind, walking a way, setting healthy boundaries.

  • Reversed: Trying one more time, indecision, aimless drifting, giving up on success, the risk of making the wrong decision. Not moving forward when needing to.

Nine of Cups:

  • Upright : 'Dreams come true' card. Hospitality, community, gatherings, festivals, fun, fulfilment of wishes, celebration with family, groups and friends,

  • Reversed: Conceit, false pride, you are not as famous as you think, unfriendly. Dreams not coming true.

Ten of Cups:

  • Upright: The 'happy ending' card with complete love and support surrounding. Divine love, blissful relationships, fulfilment, joy, euphoria, happy family; family life is guaranteed, comfortable, harmony, alignment, magical community.

 

  • Reversed: Dissatisfied, not seeing miracles or joy in your life, feeling as if you are an outsider in a family or group,  misaligned values, struggling relationships. A relationship won't last or be supported.

Page of Cups:

  • Upright: New love and hope in a relationship card. Usually the card of a new relationship or on (very rare) occassion a soulmate connection!  Imagination, inner-child, youthfulness, idealism, sensitivity, dreamer, inner-voice,  beginning to study magic/spirituality, new psychic/magical powers, pursue hope, and rediscover the joys of your profession.
